Located in Hulme, on the periphery of Manchester City centre, Leaf Street is an area of regeneration, previous public play facilities had succumbed to vandalism.

Brief
To create a play area for over eight year olds that would withstand its challenging environment.

Solutions
Working with local tenants groups and the local authority, we introduced dramatic landform to a previously featureless site, to ensure intrinsic play value.  With appropriate design and detailing the space became a valued and respected play area in the city, and received a commendation in the TIMES/RIBA CES Awards for its success.
