This is a challenging project within a city centre residential development.
We were appointed as part of the landscape team, working alongside architects, to assist with the planning application for the residential development.

Brief
To provide a landscape proposal for the external works which needed to include amenity space and play areas in the centre of the building, as well as private outdoor gardens alongside the canal.

Solution
We responded to the brief to by designing a walk through space with strong vertical elements which would reduce the 11 storey atrium to a more human scale.  Contemporary relaxed seating beneath tree canopies provides informal meeting spaces, while more enclosed playful elements provide opportunities for imaginative play.  The sculptural wall and den provide a sense of protection, while sculpture and lighting above the space adds spatial definition.  Choice of hard materials and detailing respond to the canal side location in a city centre conservation area. Private garden spaces are also provided.
