This is a large detached Victorian house, on a very steep slope in the Peak District, with beautiful views of the hills.

Brief
Create flat areas of lawn for their young boys to run and play ball on, improving access around the garden.

Solutions
There are three oval flat lawns, retained by curved dry stone walls, in keeping with the informal nature of the site and local area.  Ramped gravel and sleeper steps connect the terraces, making access comfortable and safe. A summer house is sited on the second level, to the side of the main terrace, so as not to mask the views from the house and terrace.  It overlooks the hills and is a focal point within the garden. There is a small terrace to the front, for a small informal seating area.
