01 private garden

Initial Consultation
A convenient time can be arranged for an initial site visit with you to discuss your requirements, and how you want to use the space.
Following this meeting we will send a fee estimate together with our terms and conditions.

Survey
When you decide to proceed, a detailed survey and analysis of your garden will be undertaken before a scaled base plan is produced. This will show the boundaries, existing levels and features. If the site is especially large, the survey may need to be done by a land surveyor.

Sketch Design
Draft sketch designs are usually produced. These are then developed through consultation with you to enable a Master Plan to be drawn up. This ensures that the finished design reflects your preferences and taste.

Master Plan and budget estimates
A Masterplan incorporates your preferences and any changes required. It illustrates the overall layout showing any structures, paved areas, planted areas, the type of materials to be used etc.

An approximate budget estimate can then be produced to provide an indication of the total construction costs.

Planting Plan
This shows the location of each plant, carefully positioned with sun shade, foliage, form and colour in mind.

These, along with detailed specification and management notes are commonly required as part of a planning application for new developments.

Building the Project
Selection and subsequent management of the Contractor who undertakes the work is particularly important to the success of the project. We are able to recommend highly skilled and reliable contractors with whom we have worked with for many years.

We recommend that a standard industry contract is drawn up between client and contractor to ensure that the project can proceed smoothly. In accordance with usual practice, and in order to obtain a competitive price, we can produce a package of construction drawings, specification and schedule of works, which is then put to 2-3 contractors for pricing. We then follow the Landscape Industry’s adopted contractual process.

Periodic visits are made to inspect the construction work and check that the necessary progress and quality is being achieved.  The client will be informed of progress throughout the job.

Periodic Certificates of Payment will be issued of amounts due to the contractor and inspections will be conducted to establish Final Completion and ensure that all parties are happy with the finished garden.
